Why We Create.

An Independent African Film Production Company

South Sudgic Pictures is an independent film production company and creative collective founded by a South Sudanese filmmaker raised in Kenya. It started with one decision: stop waiting for permission to tell the stories he wanted, in any genre, at any scale.

What began as one filmmaker's pursuit is growing into a home for filmmakers, writers and artists who want to experiment, take risks, and bring ambitious ideas to life.

What We Do

We develop and produce feature films, short films and television projects, while expanding into film distribution, education and masterclasses, emerging filmmaker development, international co-productions and film technology.

Our long-term ambition is to build more than a production company. We're building an ecosystem where original stories can be created, developed, distributed and experienced.

Our Philosophy: Heartfelt Escapism

Life can be heavy. People carry fear, grief, ambition, insecurity, disappointment and uncertainty every day. Sometimes, people just need somewhere else to go.

That's what we mean by heartfelt escapism. We make films for the heavy laden, films that make you laugh, feel something, lose yourself in a story for a while.

Imagination Without Permission

Filmmakers should be free to tell whatever story resonates with them. No genre is off-limits because an African filmmaker is attempting it, sci-fi, fantasy, action, comedy, thriller, drama, romance, or something that fits no category at all.

Stories About People

We make films about people, not places. Our stories can live anywhere, a familiar city, a fictional world, a distant future, somewhere that's never existed. Settings change. Human nature doesn't.

African, Without the Box

We're African filmmakers making stories that can travel anywhere. Being African is where we come from, it doesn't dictate where our stories go.

Why We Create

Ultimately, we're here to give hope. Not by pretending life isn't difficult, but by creating moments where people can step outside of it. To laugh. To wonder. To feel. To dream. To see something they haven't seen before.

And to be reminded that imagination is still alive.
